BLOGMAS (Dec. 19) | More Holiday Things

Guess what? I did more baking on Monday. Surprise, surprise. We were going to have some Christmas dinner with a few friends on Monday night so I decided to make presents for our friends.

This year has been interesting in that we were able to make it a full year on freelancer salaries but it also meant we were (and still are) tight on budget. We still wanted to give presents to close friends which meant getting creative. This isn’t a problem for us, since Russ and I both like making things.  (more…)

Natural (Almost) All-Purpose Cleaner

Hello there! I have a fun one for you today. I’ve always wanted to get rid of most of the chemicals we use in our house (i.e. cleaning products, laundry detergent, etc.) and switch to alternative products, which most can easily be homemade. I’ve found some naturally made laundry detergent from a farmer’s market that we’re still using and I love it. However, what was cluttering up our space was all the cleaning products we had. I don’t even know how it got that bad. We had glass cleaner, fabric freshener, bathroom cleaner, surface cleaners, and more and sometimes double. I finally tackled this chore a couple days ago by making an [almost] All-Purpose Spray Cleaner.

What really spurred this on is the arrival of our baby next spring. Part of my nesting process means getting rid of all unnecessary clutter. This means anything and everything will be inspected. This past week, I tackled the spaces under the sink. (more…)
