Let’s take a break from Blogmas and talk about how the baby is getting bigger in my belly and frankly, I’m freaking out. There’s only so many Youtube videos I can watch about birthing stories, recovery processes, proper cloth diapering, etc. before I start to get overwhelmed. It’s like no matter how much I try to prepare for this baby, I realize that I don’t know anything.
There are days when I want him here already because I feel him move in my belly and it warms my heart to know him this close. But then – then – I run into a birthing story and all the reminders about the pain, recovery process, sleepless nights comes back and I’m so scared. I don’t know how to do this!! I feel like such a first time mom, blah.
Part of me wants to stop researching because I figured no matter what, I won’t be prepared. But…but…I still want to read about what goes into a hospital bag. What am I supposed to pack and bring to the hospital when I go into labor?! And then I read about this thing called a padsicle and oh my god, I shouldn’t have gone there. Again, another reminder about pain and how your body will never be the same.
You know what? Point me back to this blog post when I’m holding my little boy when he turns a couple months old. I would like to see how far I’ve come.
This weekend was split evenly between doing a million things and doing nothing. See below.

Saturday was filled with lots of baking. I think once the holidays pass, I’m going to take a sabbatical on baking. I’m all baked out.
If you’ve been keeping up on my blogmas posts, on Thursday I spent all day cooking/baking. I was able to rest on Friday but I was back at it on Saturday. It’s been getting colder where we live which means I want to bake more just so our gas oven will heat up our condo. So Saturday morning, for the first time ever I made homemade cinnamon rolls.
One thing Russ and I are trying to do a lot of during this pregnancy is to squeeze in as many date nights as possible. On Friday, we planned a simple date night. I baked us some barbecue chicken sliders which we ate at home, then we decided to walk around South Coast Plaza. (more…)
Okay, I’ve been slacking on blogging but I promise (soon-ish) that I’ll get back on track. There’s just so much to do! Rearrange our entire home, prepare a nursery, research baby items, go on many dates before baby, etc. But enough excuses, I need to write more consistently 🙂
To be honest, since finding out about the baby, I’ve turned into a hermit. I did not realize how much unsolicited baby advice you receive once people find out your pregnant. Not that I’m not thankful – I appreciate many people’s input… (more…)
