Visiting Chicago & Champaign

Husband and I got to experience how Chicago does the holidays. Living in Southern California, we get in the holiday spirit. We make do with what we have. Sometimes Husband and I put lights around our palm trees. And I thought we did pretty well. But visiting Chicago…it puts us to shame. There were lights everywhere! Decorations everywhere! All the shops got into it. Giant Christmas trees! And not to mention, the cold. When we got there, our Uber driver told us how unusually warm it was in Chicago that week considering it was December. As our driver told us this, I was shivering in my big winter coat and multiple layers. Please excuse the Philippines-born /California-raised girl. Anything in the 60s and lower makes me cringe.

We were able to travel with my brother and his wife. We spent two days in Chicago, where we did lots of eating, then went over to Champaign to see family, where we did even more eating. Ah, holidays and family.

Can’t go to Chicago without a Bean shot.

Orlando, Florida

As a Harry Potter fan, I was beyond excited to finally visit The Wonderful Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I was also happy to know that they will be opening one in LA in April 2016! Anyways, I finally made the journey to a place where I am reminded of the magic of Harry Potter.

Diagon Alley

I also drank entirely way to much butterbeer. I had to try all three kinds…then try them again of course.

I’m not big on large seasonal decorations but still love decorating our space to coordinate with the seasons. Below are a few pictures of subtle autumnal decor I have lying around. It’s not much, but it was enough to change up our home for this season.

THE DINING ROOM

As you can see in the Before picture, the walls are brown. It’s a good space and it was exciting brainstorming ways to fill in our little home. The dining area is pretty small but it works well for Russ and I since we don’t have kids yet. We’ve always figured our condo will be our starter home and hopefully as our family grows in the future, we’ll be able to find another home to fit our needs. For now, it’s perfect.
