Ari’s original estimated due date was on March 29, a couple days after his daddy’s birthday. Russ and I spent all of March waiting for this kid. We finished the nursery, washed all the baby clothes, and organized the entire house before March because we thought our son might come at any moment and we wanted to be prepared. We even celebrated Russell’s birthday early. Then March 29 came…and went. I went to all my OBGYN appointments every week and each week the nurse taking my blood pressure and weight will comment how baby wasn’t here yet. I continued grocery shopping and the cashiers at the store started to recognize me and ask me when my baby was coming. I felt a lot of pressure to pop out this kid but he was on his own time. It got hard leaving the house because random people will comment about how I looked “ready to pop” which, yes I was ready to pop, but I didn’t need the constant reminder that baby wasn’t here yet. I figured it was time to blog about the nursery. As we await the arrival of our baby, here’s an update of what I’ve been up to: Project Nursery.
I’ve cleaned and organized, emptied and reorganized, vacuumed, re-vacuumed – over and over again. Seriously, the baby needs to get here already because there’s only so many ways you can organize baby socks. Anyways, the room we used as the nursery is (Was? Still is) the guest bedroom. Here’s the first time I blogged about the Guest Room and how we designed it when we first moved in: Virtual Home Tour: The Guest Room.
After doing all of that, about a year later we decided to make it into a baby room when we found out about our pregnancy. It wasn’t a big project to take on since Russ and I are always switching up our room decor. But it was a slow process since it took me awhile to collect the furniture for the nursery. So let’s start the blog. (more…)
We had our baby shower on the first Saturday of February. It was amazing and fun and exactly like how I imagined it would be. A few of my friends planned and arranged the shower – it all came out so beautifully. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves. Oh, before I do, I should note that these pictures were taken by one of our friends who did so voluntarily for fun and they turned out amazing.
I wanted to make something special for baby…let’s be honest, there are a ton of items both Russell and I want to make for baby. We’re currently on hardcore nesting mode. This involved us blocking off days on our calendar because we hadn’t realized how fast our days filled up when we kept saying yes to things. So for our sanity, we’re buckling down and spending more time at home to get it ready for Baby Henry.
One of the projects I took on – and more importantly, finished – is a baby mobile! I honestly did not know how this was going to go. Also, I had already been gifted a musical, rotating mobile by my sis-in-law since she had an extra one. The fancy one is actually on the crib but the one I made is hanging in our room. I love it. I’m hoping baby Henry will like to stare up at it when I breast feed him in our room.
I’m currently writing this from Las Vegas, Nevada! Whoop whoop! Technically, Russ and I are on our babymoon but we’ve just come back from one of the best buffets I’ve ever been to…and we can’t move. We are so stuffed from all the delicious food we just ate. We were at the restaurant for about 2 hours just eating and stuffing our faces.
